I just did some more research into what other players in the mobile video niche are up to.
Still waiting for a chance to try out Qik thorougly but they don't seem to like me at all (get no sms when I try to sign up... also tried with the special deal for Mogulus users, without result).
The web related parts of the Movino project are finally released. This means we have an open source mobile+live video solution covering the complete chain mobile camera -> bearer -> web.
Perferct for someone who likes to start up a live+mobile YouTube clone (or more precisely, a Stickam or Ustream.tv without the cords).
I joined the staff giving a course on safety at sea for members of Finlands Svenska Scouter rf. last weekend in Pargas. Since my Nokia E70 came along, I incidently created this documentary of the adventure:
Movino allows you to use your camera phone in a new fashion. You can capture live video and send it over whatever uplink you have available (Bluetooth, GPRS, 3G or WLAN) with the final destination being either an embedded player on your website or a Skype-compatible video Quicktime component for your Mac. Movino was developed as part of a project course at Åbo Akademi University, autumn 2006 - spring 2007.
